Broken Promises delivered a solid script and strong acting! I wasn't bored at all! I got through the story
with no problem. The lifeguard characters all seemed more like a family here. The writers just did a great job. It's
still nothing like the original show, but then again, why should I expect it to be? Nothing can ever be like the original.
It seems to be coming along on its own. I still think that it would be better if Sean and Leigh were dating, but that
would have happened if I had been writing the scripts. I guess I just see things differently than the show's writing
crew. I can't complain on this one though. I gave it 3 rescue cans. I could have given it 4 rescue cans, but there is still
a problem with that dreaded street language that stumps me. It is really irritating. I think that this
flaw will date this particular Hawaiian series down the road. The other, as I have often stressed is that younger viewers
can't watch as they could with the original. The Producers can live and learn.
Sean arrived at Headquarters, only to have a familiar problem show up. Jenna! She greeted him. Sean ask
her that her letter wasn't enough. She had to come down to deliver the happy news in person. She told him that she
wanted to see how he was taking it. It must be really tough! He was so busy. He had so much on his plate and
now he was going to lose Leigh. It wouldn't be easy...his being short handed and all. But she told him in her position,
she had to see reassignments as she saw fit. He told Jenna that she can send out all the reassignment letters she wanted.
Leigh was staying exactly where she was. Jenna's face froze in a burning expression before she retaliated that she didn't
think so. He couldn't ignore her anymore. She worked with Councilman McKenna. She told him that he is a very
powerful man.
Councilman McKenna! Councilman McKenna! Councilman McKenna! The guy isn't that powerful! You would think that
this man was the Mayor the way she talked about him. My guess is that she was using the Councilman so that she could get her
way. And I assume that she is sleeping with him. You can't get an immediate position as a liason between someone like
that and everyone else unless there was an intimate relationship going on. But in all, I think that her trying to hurt Sean
is a huge error on her part. You can't force anyone to love you...or to accept you for that matter. And her actions show that
she hates Sean rather than love him. He is lucky to find out what kind of person he broke up with.
He asked her in a sarcastically way what her job was exactly. She told him with a dark, evil smile that it was exactly
what he suspected. To make his life a living hell. Sean just told her that he didn't think she could be that
addictive. She just looked at him for a moment and said that she had to think about it. Jenna wore a blank expression
before her face brightened again. She told Sean that actually, she could. Sean didn't feel like going through her
little game. She wanted a reaction, but he wasn't going to give her one. He told her to have a nice morning.
She watched him angrily as he left. On the crowded beach, Leigh did some running and saw Sean, who was carrying his equipment
up a tower ramp. She stopped running at the foot of the ramp. Leigh said that she was angry. She saw him talking
with Jenna. He told Leigh not to get her back up about this. He assured her that she worked at The Center here-for
good. She asked what was she supposed to do about that transfer letter. He assured her that he would take care of
it. But Leigh reminded him that the letter came out of Councilman McKenna's office. He didn't care how much juice or
how well connected Jenna Avid was. He would go head-to-head with anyone or anything trying to hurt his team. Jenna was
not going to get away with this. He enforced that she was staying at The Center with him.
Well, Duh! Of course he was going to fight to keep her. He was in love with Leigh. He was not going to take any chances
in losing her. It would have been nice if the writers would have actually had them dating. It could start off light.
It's not like he had to place an engagement ring on her finger.
Not that far away, the Snowden family, vacationing in Hawaii, camped out close to the water. The little boy, Jamie picked
up his board. His mother Gwen asked him where he thought he was going. He wanted to go into the water. She told
him not without his father. Gwen looked at her husband Jim. But Jim didn't want to go in with their son. He found
his son's Gameboy more interesting. But she was not going to back down, pointing her finger as she made her
point. The current was rough here, and the little boy knew that he was not a strong enough swimmer yet. His father WILL
go with him! She then gave her husband another firm expression. The boy was disappointed and said fine! But he wanted
his Gameboy back!
Jim did not want to give the game up as he was really engrossed. His father told him fine. It was O.K. to go into the water. Gwen's
mouth opened wide in shock and protest. She started to get up angrily. He told her that their son could handle it. He
was watching after him. Gwen pointed out that they were so far away from the lifeguard. But with them both insisting,
she finally gave in and told him not to go out too far. Their son Jamie was now happy and taking his board out to the
water. Jim told her that he was getting big. They had to give him a break. They saw that Jamie was happily floating
on his board. But she was still worried and soon her eyes wondered over along the shoreline to see a boy, who was Danny
choking. He fell to the sand. She called her husband, getting up and running in Danny's direction to help. Her clueless husband
finally saw what was going on and dropped the Gameboy. They were soon holding up Danny's head. Jim asked
him what was wrong.
Gwen told her husband that she didn't think he was breathing. She was looking for signs and placing her head close
to listen for breathing. He appeared to be almost unconscious and tried to feel his throat. He wheezed between coughs. Trying
to tell them that he could not breathe. Jim tried to get a bit more information out of Danny so that they could help
him. Danny looked over in the family's camp area, where one of his little friends, Vin was stealing their valuables. This
caused the couple to look into that direction. They saw what was going on. They dropped Danny, causing his head
to hit the sand hard. They yelled too late! Vin took off with the loot! Everything was stolen. Their vacation
money as well.
He told Gwen to get the lifeguard because he was going after the thief. She felt so overwhelmed and suddenly her worst
fear came into play. She noted that Jamie was nowhere in the water. His board floated on without him. Danny
got up and started to run in the opposite direction. She started screaming for help for her son. Danny stopped running
and headed toward the water and jumped in. Meanwhile, Sean and Leigh could hear the woman screaming and headed toward her. Danny
was carrying the little boy out of the water and to the sand as Sean and Leigh took over just in time. There was no pulse
or breathing so they began CPR. Jim got back and didn't realize right away that they were working on his own son. He
hadn't even noted his wife by the boy's side as the lifeguards worked. But he did see Danny, who stayed put, waiting for the
boy to respond.
He yelled out that he was the kid who robbed them. They told him not now as they were working to save a life. Jim
got a good look at the victim. He then realized that they were working to save his own son. The boy came to and the water
came up. They turned his head to the side to let the water flow from his mouth. Jim thanked them, holding his son. Danny
looked at an angry Leigh and tried to walk away, but she grabbed his arm and yanked him back toward her to keep him from going
anywhere. After Jamie had been taken to the hospital, Sean tried to control how angry he was. Danny tried to approach
him to free himself from any blame.
He explained that Vin was stealing wallets, not him. Danny thought that his lying and thinking that he could charm
Sean into siding with him. Danny needed Sean as a friend who would always help him out of scrapes. Leigh wasn't
charmed and sarcastically reminded him of the car they pulled him out of once. She guess he didn't steal that either. She
told Danny to listen to himself. Sean had a proposition for him. He was going offer him something most guys like him
don't get. A second chance. Danny seemed pleased. He asked that was he saying that he wasn't going to report him. Sean wanted
him to join The Baywatch Hawaii Training Center. Leigh was shocked and couldn't believe it.
Danny thought that Sean was kidding. He was smiling as Sean was not going to turn him in. Sean told Danny that he was not
kidding. Lifeguards come from all over the world to train with them. A hard case like him wouldn't have it easy, but if he
worked hard, stay focused and used his God-given water skills, he might have a future in water work here. Danny saw that he
was serious. Although he looked innocent on the outside, you could just tell what was cooking in that wicked little head of
his. And that something was, he just couldn't believe his luck with this guy! Someone who will get him off the hook when he
got into trouble. He had Sean completely fooled. Sean asked him what his answer was.
Danny said in a cocky sort of way that he didn't know as if he really had a choice. He asked him what the choices were.
Sean just told him train or he would turn him in. Danny tried to make himself seem like an angel. He told Sean that he didn't
mean to mouth off like that. It was just that he wasn't used to having someone really believe in him. He was grateful to him-for
real. He realized that Sean wasn't quite the pushover that he was hoping for. But he still cared about him and that's what
mattered. Leigh looked on at a distance by a tree, rolling her eyes at Danny's innocent act. She was not fooled. Sean told
him to get over to The Center and he would have Jason square him away. The boy agreed and went to Headquarters. When
he was gone, Sean faced Leigh.
Sean thanked her for not spilling what she thought about Danny. Leigh told Sean that he wouldn't want to know what she
thought. Sean told her that he did want to know as they started walking. Leigh told him that she was a Military brat. I knew
these base kids inside and out. The worst was when one from a good family turn out like Danny. Danny's Mom is a Lieutenant
Commander on a Destroyer and when she's not on base, he was out running her good name into the mud. Sean told her that they
were going to change that. Leigh told him that he thought so. He said yes.
Leigh warned him that when she was on Brian's team, he used to catch Danny and his crew stealing purses on sandy beaches.
This kid likes being in trouble. He's like the shark who gets a taste of humans and he never stops. Sean told her that that
was a myth. He even had the nerve to laugh about it. Leigh told him whatever! She knew that he was trying to do something
good. But he was going to end up hurting The Center and himself. He asked Leigh to put her feelings aside and back
him up. If he was wrong, he'll pull him from The Center in a second. She agreed telling him that she was going to
hold him to that promise. At The Center, Kekoa was explaining her family's heritage symbols on her bracelet to J.D.
J.D. then pointed to one and asked about it. Kekoa said that it was given to her great grandmother when she graduated out
of court dancing. J.D. then changed the subject.
He asked if she had any plans. Kekoa asked what he had in mind. He was thinking the Hotel Hiltons Tropic Bar after
work. It was ladies night. The first two drinks are on the house. It wasn't a date. It was about two friends hanging out together.
But she told him that she couldn't anyway. Her father wanted her at the house tonight. Something important-supposedly. J.D.
figured another lecture, but Kekoa told him that she hoped not. She couldn't handle any more of those.
Later, Kekoa was walking along side of her father in the garden. Mr. Tanaka told his daughter that he had been thinking
long and hard about all the years they lived under the same roof in bitterness. She was really surprised. He went on to say
that the anger tore him up. He missed her. Why couldn't they find once again the love and friendship they had between them?
She told him that she would give anything for that. She really would. Mr. Tanaka got sentimental. He remember when she was
about three or four. He had to pull her off the pumalia tree there the front. She used to climb the tree like she
was a little monkey.
She added laughing that she broke the branches. She thought that he would be mad but he never was. He told Kekoa that he
worried about her sometimes, but he just wanted her to be safe. As an attractive young man came out of the house, carrying
a lei with a lovely white flower attached to it, Mr. Tanaka continued by telling her that there was someone he invited over
that he wanted her to meet. The man walked toward them. She didn't catch on until he started with the matchmaking. He was
a bright young man that he thought she would like. His name was Lang Shenaka.
Kekoa then realized what his true intentions were. She figured that it was all just an act. Mr. Tanaka tried to assure
her that it wasn't. He went on to explain that Lang cared about the Islands. He had investments. Kekoa reasoned that her father
had given up on business school. Now he was trying to marry her off. Mr. Tanaka was speechless because he knew that it was
true. Kekoa had her say. He would do anything and everything to keep her from living her life as I saw fit.
"Life without a future is no life at all, O.K.? One day, Kekoa, your beach will end. I only want the best for you." He
explained. "You do?" She cried. "All you ever cared about was control." Her father tried to assure her that it was not
true. He only wanted Mr. Shenaka to take her to dinner. She stared at him angrily and walked away in silence. "Hey!
Kekoa, where are you going?" He called after her. She then turned and said, "Father you cut that pumalia tree a long
time ago." He was silent. She walked out, apologizing to Lang a she went.
Later that night at The Tropics Bar, Jenna was waiting at a table for her party to show up. She then sees her.
She thanked Leigh for coming. Leigh reminded her that she said that it was important. Jenna told her that it was. She wanted
to talk to her about her transfer. Her talents were sorely missed by The Hawaiian Lifeguards. Leigh told her that
Brian Keaulana said that his team is doing just fine without her. Jenna explain that he was the Team Captain. And Team Captains
have to be diplomatic. She didn't have to be. And since she was so impressed with her commitment with Baywatch and
her passion to stay there, she thought it was best she should.
Leigh was surprised and thanked Jenna. Why the change of heart? Jenna told her that it was obvious to her that she found
a new home. She sipped her drink. Then came the crash. Jenna told her that she wished she felt better about leaving her there.
Leigh asked what she meant. Jenna explained that she was not real happy about the way Sean has been running The Team.
There had been talks about irregularities and about the way he's been promoting private sponsorship. Leigh told her that she
hated to disappoint her but she had nothing to tell her. But Jenna was sure that she could if she kept her eyes opened.
Jenna needed Leigh. Jenna was not having any success in trying to dismantle Sean on her own. Sean was always on guard.
So she didn't have a chance. He expected the worst from her. But the most important thing was that Sean trusted Leigh. Jenna
told Leigh to think about it. With her on The Team, together they can keep an eye on Sean and help keep that place
going. She then looked at Leigh with satisfaction before her next threat. And she wouldn't have to worry about getting
reassigned again. Leigh didn't like the way that sounded or her tone. She asked if that was a threat. Jenna told her of course
not. It was just the truth. She displayed a slick, soothing, but definite tone. It was so sweet, it was sickening. Jenna then
offered a big smile raising her glass. Cheers! It left Leigh with her mouth opened.
Meanwhile, J.D. was working on a project when he heard a knock on his door. He picked up a rag to wipe his hands on and
got up to answer it. It was Kekoa. He didn't expect her because she was meeting with her father. She was so dismayed
that she asked if she could crash on his couch for the night. He said sure. He then started picking up items and apologized
that the place was a mess. She told him that it didn't matter. She didn't know why she came there. He stopped straightening
up for a moment. He told her because he was her friend. She sat down and confided that she had to stand up to her father tonight.
He sat beside her while holding her hand and told her that he was sorry. He was proud of her. She told him that she didn't
feel proud. She was angry, hurt and confused. She didn't understand her father. Everything he had told her was a lie. She
reasoned that he never loved her. He pulled her close, where she welcomed the comfort of his shoulder to cry on. The next
morning J.D. knocked on the bathroom's door frame. Kekoa seemed in a better mood. She told him that it was O.K. He asked if
she would mind if he washed up too? She told him that it was his place. He asked how she slept last night. She admitted not
too good while brushing her hair. J.D. said that he slept like a rock.
There was an awkward silence before Kekoa spoke again. She told him that every time she closed her eyes, it seemed like
her father was staring at her. She just wanted to choose a man on her own. Someone who respects her for what she does and
wants her for who she is. She looked up at J.D. and asked if that was too much to ask? He told her no. It was for her father.
J.D. squeaked passed her, trying not to let his body touch hers. Kekoa rattled on. He can't change who he is. Neither could
she. So what was the point of ever going home again? She turned facing J.D. This made him nervous in her vulnerable state.
Kekoa brought her face close to his, waiting for him to respond, but it never happened. She asked if the coffee was almost
ready. He said yes. She told him that she would be out in a minute and asked to keep the coffee warm for her. When he was
gone, she let out a sigh of relief. It was not the best time for them to get romantically involved while she was not in her
right state of mind.
I was glad that the writers did not let anything happen here. J.D. did this once before. With Caroline Holden. When
they had a date to go sailing and the boat tipped over. She froze while seeing that the the boat's mast almost fell on her,
but J.D. had swam her safely out of harm's way. Later she cried bitterly confiding in J.D that that was how her sister Stephanie
died. He comforted her and the next thing you know, they had an immediate intimate relationship. While attracted to each
other, their career plans were miles apart. That was the thing that caused them not to become a couple. Hmmmm...they made
such a great-looking couple too! It's too bad.
Later on a Scarab, the group trainees was learning how to tow it in. Leigh and Kekoa were on the Scarab with the group.
Zack was towing in the second Scarab beside it and Danny was steering. Leigh yelled out to Zack that he was doing a good job. Keep
towing that Scarab in. She then looked back, telling the trainees that they must work as a team to get it home if the vehicle
should become disabled. Kekoa was on the radio speaking to J.D. Leigh's attention was divided. She told J.D. that her bracelet
was in her locker. Now it was gone. Kekoa controlled her tears. She just hung up the radio. Leigh told her that she was sorry
about her bracelet. Yeah, Kekoa said in disappointment. Leigh asked if she could replace it. Kekoa was offended. She replied
sacasticly that yeah, you well I might as well replace her whole heritage. Leigh assured her that she didn't
mean anything by it. Danny, who was steering had been listening. He had stopped. "Danny!" Leigh yelled. "Get your butt
in here and keep steering that wheel!"
He returned his attention to his assigned job. Kekoa told her to take it easy on Danny. It was his first day. Leigh had
something to say about that. She told her the way the locals diss the military, she wouldn't expect her to defend a hardcore
base kid. Kekoa told Leigh that she was not defending Danny. She was defending Sean's trust in Danny. If Sean believed in
the kid, it was good enough for her. Danny turned on the engine and he started to go forward, causing Zack to panic. He could
run right into him! Leigh yelled at him telling him to kill the engine. The boy turned it off.
Zack was angry. He told him was he crazy or just an idiot. "Lighten holly boy!" Danny yelled. "Yeah, you want a piece of
me?" Zack yelled back. Danny was insulted and told Zack to shut up! He left the wheel and hurried to the front of
the boat. He jumped off to attack Zack. The boys fought. "Danny!" Leigh growled. There was no response this time. He was set
on getting even with Zack. Leigh and Kekoa jumped in to stop the fight. A couple of the trainees jumped in to help break it
up. "Danny! Hey!" Leigh yelled. No response from the boy. "Danny, stop it!" She ordered. Danny continued to attack. "Knock
it off!" The boys were finally separated. Leigh and a trainee handling Danny while Kekoa and the other trainee stopping Zack.
"Little jerk!" Zack snapped. Leigh looked at Kekoa and said, "Trust me, this is just the start."
Meanwhile, on the beach at an outdoor fast food restaurant, J.D. was talking to Jason about Kekoa. He told him that she
was something else. She was like a whole other new breed of woman. He told Jason about the guts that she showed-standing up
to her Dad-walking out of that big house. Jason finished for him with a huge satified smile. And coming right to your
doorstep. Jason gobbled down his chips. J.D. told him to keep his voice down! He looking around to see if anyone
they knew was there who could overhear them. He reminded him that he was the only one who knew. Jason continued while gobbling
down chips. Today, she was wearing your shirt and tomorrow she'll be wearing just a smile! His deep voice reached its highest
peak. J.D. told him that this wasn't just about jumping her bones. He had respect for Kekoa. Her strength, her character,
her heart. He paused before going on. He just hated seeing her in pain. Jason, who had no respect for women anyway was amazed.
He told him that he had it bad!
Danny continued to be a problem. He was joy riding a Tandem Jet-Ski. Leigh was not amused. She used the radio to order
him in. Sean came by and took off his sunglasses to get a better look. The boy had stopped and turned the Jet Ski around.
He came in to shore as ordered. Sean headed out toward him wearing a disappointed expression. Leigh inspected the Ski for
any damage. Danny tried to apologize saying that he didn't mean to hurt the Jet Ski. He was just blowing off steam. Getting
his head straight. He tried to seem sweet and innocent. Leigh warned him that she was on to him, and for him not to get too
comfortable around here. She started to gather equipment off the Ski and out of the trunk. He asked her what she was talking
about. He then looked up and saw Sean, his weapon. He greeted Sean! Sean told him that he heard about his busy day.
Danny apologized about losing his temper with Zack. The last thing he wanted to do was let him down. It was just that all
of this stuff on his mind. Sean told him to go on. He wanted to hear it. He told Sean about the charges pressed against him
earlier in the beach incident. And he was the one who saved his kid's life. Sean had heard enough and told him that the would
look into it. Danny looked up at him and gave him an expression of disbelief. It was good enough to win Sean over. Sean
gave him a smile and told him to get out of here, giving him a pat on the arm. Leigh had been looking on, shaking her head
in disbelief. Sean walked toward Leigh. She didn't say anything until Sean initiated a conversation.
Sean asked her what she meant by the fact that she was on to Danny. Leigh told him about Kekoa's heirloom bracelet was
missing from her locker. Sean asked that if she thinks that Danny stole it. Leigh was honest and told Sean that what her gut
was telling her. Sean told her that it was all she had to go on. Then he walked away. She tried to yell after him to get him
to listen. Zack was walking toward Sean and Leigh as Sean was leaving. As Sean passed by Zack, he tried to explain that they
turned The Center upside down and they couldn't find...
Sean told him "not now," without stopping. Zack looked to Leigh. She wanted to know what they couldn't find. She found
out about the master set of keys that were missing from Sean's desk. Leigh was not amused. Nothing looked good in Danny's
favor except through Sean's eyes. Sean was soon talking to Jim Snowden about the charges at The Tropics Bar. The
man told Sean that all he knew was that his son wouldn't have nearly drowned if that kid hadn't pulled a con. Sean
told Mr. Snowden that then he did the right thing. Although Sean tried to persuade him, Mr. Snowden told him in a deliberate
tone that it was his fault. Sean painted the picture differently. He told Mr. Snowden that the fact was...Danny
jumped in that water, put his arms around his son and kept him from dying. He tried desperately to soften the man's heart.
There was a silence between the two men as they locked eyes. "You have children?" Mr. Snowden asked. Sean thought about
his deceased son in silence and finally shook his head and said, "No, no I don't." He watched as Jim nodded before taking
a sip of his beer. Their conversation caused Jim to think about whether to drop the charges or not. Leigh, J.D. and Kekoa
arrived at the bar. They had a view of Sean's table. "What do we do now?" J.D. asked. "Turn Danny upside down and shake the
bracelet out of him?"
Leigh told him that she didn't think that Sean would approve. Talk about a man with blind faith. Kekoa no longer
believed in Sean's trust in Danny. Later that night, J.D. was digging around for glasses that didn't have water spots on them.
He heard a knock at the door, thinking it was Kekoa. "Right there Kekoa!" He yelled. He placed a glass on a coaster next to
a nicely wrapped gift. When he opened the door. It was Mr. Tanaka. He didn't greet J.D. and invited himself in. He started
right in stating that his daughter has never been capable of choosing the right man.
J.D asked that so he chose them for her? He was uncorking a bottle of wine. He told Mr. Tanaka to face it.
The truth about his daughter hurt his pride. Mr. Tanaka did not want to hear it. He told J.D. that he spoke like
a fool! J.D. said that he felt sorry for him. He was a stranger to his own daughter. Mr.
Tanaka defended himself by telling him that he didn't know anything about Kekoa. He didn't know how she was raised-what
she believes in. The things she holds sacred. He knew nothing! Kekoa came back to J.D.'s place. The two men heard the
door close. J.D. stood. It was Kekoa! She stared at them in silence.
Her father told Kekoa that he would like for her to come home now. She didn't belong here. Kekoa told
him that it was her decision, not his. She stated that line firmly. It was as if her words had fallen upon deaf
ears. Her father told her to get in the car. She told him no! Again he firmly ordered her to get in the car. No,
she held her ground, her eyes locking his. Mr. Tanaka realized that his daughter meant it. He had no choice but to leave J.D.'s
home. After he was gone, J.D. asked, "Are you O.K.?" She sat down in relief and told him that she was. J.D. sat
beside Kekoa. She was silent as he picked up the gift and handed it to her. "Go on," he said. "Open it." It was a bracelet-similar
to the one that was stolen. "See?" He said, "It even has the Kahili markings on it. Just like the bracelet you lost." Kekoa
was silent, staring at the bracelet. She didn't offer a smile or "thank you." J.D. didn't understand. He asked her what
was wrong. She was still. He tried to make things right. "Look, if it's not the right style, we can exchange it,
O.K.?"
I can't believe that J.D. just didn't get it! Nothing can ever replace an heirloom. An heirloom is about your family's
background. Well, she thanked him for the couch. She would stay at The Center tonight. She was hurt. When
she got up to leave, J.D. got up and stood between her and the door. "Kekoa, talk to me! I don't understand." He said. Kekoa
figured that was just the problem. "Nobody understands. Not my father, not you-nobody!" She said. With that, Kekoa finally
left.
"Ke! Ke!" He called after her. He slammed his fist against the door in disgust. The next morning at Headquarters, Leigh
marched to Sean's desk. Sean greeted with a "Good morning!" Leigh wasn't in a wonderful mood. "Think so? I got out on
patrol with nothing to patrol on." Leigh told him. Sean didn't understand. She told him that the Tandem Jet Ski is missing.
The last one using it was Danny. Sean asked her if she had any witnesses to back that up. She told him just two.
Him and her. Leigh's tone was firm. She didn't hesitate to tell him to remember what he said. Danny's out of here
if he screws up. Meanwhile, Danny was in training. He was towing a Scarab. The Team in the other Scarab observed
as an angry Sean sped past them in a rubber boat. He stopped beside Danny, who had just stopped swimming.
"I stuck my neck out for you, Daniel." He said. "I put it right there on the chopping block because I thought you were
working." Danny seemed clueless and told him that he was training his butt off, just like he told him to.
Sean just went on as if he hadn't heard one word. "You ripped me off a lot more than you know, kid." Still not know exactly
what Sean was getting at, he said, "Look, I can do this, I can make this!" Sean just stated that he violated his trust.
That's something you can't replace. He ordered him to get into the boat. Now! The Team looked on, probably in glee over
his disaster.
"Sean, come on," Danny said, still begging. "You'll see! All right!" Sean said, tired of the boy's con games. He unhooked
the rescue tube from the Scarab and forcefully pulled Danny aboard. The harness enabled Sean to grab the boy. "I said now!
I meant now!" Sean then took off with The Team still watching. When they were on shore, Sean had words for Danny.
Danny assured him that he "wasn't sizing it up for no steal! Sean, come on! You think after all you've done for
me, I'd turn around and screw you like this!"
Sean told him to forget it. Danny, who was desperate told Sean that he was right. He really thought that
he could make it here. Sean told him that it was over! Danny told Sean that he wouldn't let him
down. He had his word. Sean ordered him to clear his locker out. He reinforced that it was over! J.D. heard the
commotion and came over. Sean saw J.D. and walked toward him. This stopped Danny's begging. The boy ran off. J.D. asked Sean
what was going on. He saw the boy running off. Sean told J.D that he had to cut Danny lose from The Team.
He was disappointed given the attachment he had for the boy. J.D. told him that he was sure that it wasn't easy. Sean
told him that he gave him no choice. It was bad enough that he swiped Kekoa's bracelet and his keys, but on
top of that, he took a Ski! J.D. was trying get what he was saying and stated that he didn't mean the Tandem Ski? "Yeah,
the Tandem-why?" Sean asked. J.D. groaned and then explained. He hated to tell him this, but it wasn't stolen.
Sean asked him what he meant. J.D. explained that something was jamming up the impella, so he took it in to be
serviced this morning. "Awww...damn it!" Sean said in disgust. He had just chewed the boy out over something that he hadn't
done. He had embarrassed them both in front of everyone! "Sean, I'm sorry." J.D. apologized. "I should have told you I was
taking it in." Sean dismissed it. He figured that J.D. did and he just didn't listen. Sean knew what he had
to do.
Meanwhile at the Hawaiian airport, Jason and Zack were planning to pick up girls. They saw a blonde and brunette coming
out and sit on a bench. These were the ones that the boys had planned to smooth talk. Zack told Jason with a big smile
that he was getting something. Jason said that he didn't know. They looked kind of moody. Zack didn't think
that it was a problem. They would brighten their lives. He convinced Jason and they went over. They found out that
the girls had lost bags. The girls nodded, pouting. Zack continued as he was doing all of the talking. He related
his own fake incident to the girls. They were supposed to pick up a couple of killer boys from Baywatch LA and they just
found out that they're somewhere over in Cleveland. The girls asked if they were lifeguards.
Zack told them that they were at their service. He introduced himself and then Jason as The Jason. Jason
asked where they were from. Kalamazoo! They both chorused. Zack jumped in again. He told the girls that they were
going to head down to the beach. If they wanted to come along. They could check on the bags later. "Sure,"
said the brunette. She asked if they knew of any secluded beaches...away from the beach path. The boys couldn't believe
their luck! They eyed each other and smiled!
Danny sat alone on a picnic table, smoking. A nice thing for a bad person like him to do. Sean and Leigh had finally located
him. Sean told him that he was a hard man to find. He sat beside him. Danny didn't acknowledge their presence right away.
He just took another puff, staring straight ahead. Sean asked if anyone ever told him that the cigarettes would kill
him? The boy turned and blew the smoke in Sean's face. Sean showed an expression of irritation. Danny turned to face
forward again. He asked Sean if there was anything else he'd like to tell him.
Yes, as a matter of fact, there was. They found the missing Ski. Danny told him "no fooling" in a sarcastic
monotone. He went on to rub it in. Where? In my grandma's bedroom? He kept staring out all along. Sean told him that he made
a mistake, and he was sorry. Leigh, who really felt bad about the incident told him that they both did. She
told him that she was sorry. Danny looked at her angrily. He had his own words for her. "Why do you have to lie to my
face for? To you I'm the punk thief ain't I?" Leigh stated that she didn't remember saying that. Danny looked
at her and told her but that's what she was thinking. That he was the one who's grabbing keys, bracelets
and anything else he that can get his paws on. Sean told him to take it easy.
Danny refused to take that advice. He told them that he said one thing and did the complete opposite. They
were messing with his mind like the rest of the world. He could kiss his tail! He threw the cigarette
in the sand, got up and stomped off. Sean let out a sigh, but displayed a strange expression as if thinking about something.
The four arrived at the isolated beach. The truck could barely come to a stop before Zack was howling continuously like
a wolf and opening the door. Jason ordered everyone out. One of the girls exclaimed that the scene was awesome.
Weren't they just dying to jump in that water? The blonde said that she wish she could but her bathing suit was at
the bottom of her luggage. Jason, who just uses women anyway, offered who needed suits? Nobody was around.
Zack told them that there was an old Hawaiian saying. Ala Hawana Kahala Wuahali. One of the girls stated
that it was beautiful. "What does it mean?" The blonde asked. "Ohhhh, to be naked in paradise," Zack said.
"Sounds sweet!" Said the brunette. "Can we have a little privacy, maybe?" Jason told them that they would meet them at
the surf. He was so fired up that he was already taking off his shirt. The boys looked back at the girls, who were
removing their tops. When they were at a distance, Jason questioned Zack's Hawaiian saying. Zack told him that it was the
name of the mall. It was the only Hawaiian he knew. They took off their pants, letting them drop to the sand
and proceeded naked into the water. They turned toward the girls, who were still at the truck just in time to see them drive
off! "I don't believe it!" Jason said holding his head. "Ohhhh!" Zack exclaimed that those chicks weren't from Kalamazoo.
(((((LAUGHING))))) Well, they tried to be players and they got played! Its just what they deserved with their disrespect
for women. The womanizers! They got exactly what they were looking for!
Kekoa was reading in bed in subdued lighting. She then placed the book on her tummy. She sighed, thinking for a moment
until she heard noise. Quietly, she got up to see what it was while grabbing her radio. She spotted Danny! "Hey! What are
you doing down there?" She yelled. Danny fled with her chasing. She yelled, ordering him to stop!
While she continued pursuit, Danny hopped onto a Scarab, dropping the black bag containing the thing's stolen from The
Center. Desperate to get away, he used the stolen keys to start the motor and then took off. Kekoa raced to stop him.
She hopped onto a Ski, using her radio to call for help. She managed to get Sean. Sean picked up the radio from
his truck. He heard her loud and clear. He asked her what was wrong. Kekoa told Sean that Danny took one of
the Scarabs. She continued to pursue him. Danny almost crashed into a group on a floater. He avoided them just in time. Kekoa
noted the lifeguard truck rolling along the road keeping pace with Kekoa chasing Danny.
She asked Sean if he could see her yet. He told her yes, that he was on the starboard side and west on the
Coney Island only. Sean warned her that Danny was headed toward population. She should cut him off before
he got any closer. Getting close is just around the bend. She told Sean that she would bust him in there! Sean then
warned the Coast Guard. They had a fix on a stolen Scarab. It was heading West on Waikiki. Sean said.
Kekoa was closing in. Danny kept looking back, desperate not to get caught. Kekoa yelled for Dannyto slow down. Kekoa
could see that he was going to crash into a floater with a group for an engagement party. Again, she yelled out a warning
to Danny. On the floater, the party was in progress and the father of the bride-to-be proposed a toast to his daughter, Molly
and to her fiancee, Ed. He added for them to have a long and blessed life together. Danny meanwhile kept looking back
at Kekoa, still determined not to get caught. She was closing the gap.
Kekoa yelled for Danny to look out. Danny turned to see the group ahead and he managed to avoid them, but water
splashed everywhere and the motion caused some guests to fall overboard. Kekoa had to stop pursuing Danny in order to assist
the victims. Kekoa told Sean that she needed assistance. That she had people in the water. Sean prepared to help.
Danny had finally escaped her. Kekoa helped the victims back onto the floater. When she was finished, she asked if everyone
was accounted for. The bride's father asked where his daughter Molly was. Sean swam up. Kekoa was on the floater.
She told him that there was a victim still in the water. She must have gone under. She spotted her from the floater. Sean
swam over and then under the surface to bring her up. He got the young woman to the floater. They had to give her CPR. Kekoa
did the chest compressions-Sean, the breathing. Molly came to. Sean told her to take it easy. Molly's fiance and her
father were grateful. Kekoa felt a sense of satisfaction as she gave them both a slight warm smile.
Later at the pier, a Coast Guard's white small boat honked its horn. Sean and Kekoa turned. The Coast Guard had Danny cuffed.
His head lowered. The two walked toward the boat. When Sean and Kekoa were in view, Danny's face suddenly brightened.
"Sean! Tell these guys! You sent me to bring the boat back! Because I knew the ones who took it." Danny said, trying desperately
to charm Sean into getting him off. "Sean, come on! You sent me, right?" There was pleading in his face. "Sir, did you authorize
him to take the boat?" Asked a Guard, one of the two holding the cuffed boy. Danny's pleading expression expecting Sean to
get him off. A long silence, fighting his emotions. Finally, reason won outright! Sean closed his eyes and shook his
head. Danny, who was shocked and angry had words for Sean. "You bastard! I thought you was my friend! You was supposed to
help me! Now you're treating me like I'm nothing! Now you're nothing!" Danny screamed and hissed as they took him away. "I
don't need you! I don't need nobody!" It hurt Sean to do it, but lying for the boy to get him off the hook would not have
helped him, that's for sure. Sean also had to keep his promise to Leigh. They had to press charges. Knowing how much Danny
had meant to Sean, Kekoa tied to comfort him as they turned to go.
At Headquarters, Kekoa approached J.D. at the desk. He was writing. She had news for him. The cops found her bracelet.
It was in Danny's stash at his grandmother's house. J.D. was glad that they recovered it for her, but still hurt over her
rejection of his bracelet. She was happy tht she told him that she thought it was lost forever. She comforted
his feelings by stating that now she was even richer. She got close to his face, causing him to look up. She had had
two bracelets! She smiled. Her acceptance of his gift caused him to smile. He told her that the last time he checked,
the training quarters were really rugged. Kekoa admitted that it was true! He went on to say that the beds were very lumpy. Kekoa
hinted that she didn't know how those trainees got any sleep. She might be moving back home, she admitted.
Her mother wanted her to have dinner with my Dad tonight to see if they could meet half way. J.D was glad to
hear that. Oh, and he presented a present for her. He reached into his bag. It was the key to his front
door. He added that you never know, it might come in handy some day. She agreed, re-enforcing his words. "Yeah, you never
know." She accepted the key. When he left, she watched him.
The boys finally got the truck back-stripped of all parts. They had it towed to Headquarters. Sean saw the truck as the
two looked it over. Sean was not amused. Zack tried to explain. He knew that it looked like they made a mess of
things here. And he was down with that. But trust he whined that it could have happened to anybody! He added, "but
then, not everybody gets carjacked by a couple of hot babes packin heat." Zack was smiling in front of Jason, expecting him
to back him up. He saw that Sean was in a stern mood. Zack quickly changed the subject. "I'll bet they were in with that kid
Danny. Bring in locals, ripping us off! We could be looking at a full out conspiracy." The mere mentioning of Danny hurt Sean.
He had opened his heart to this boy and tried to help him. He trusted him!
Sean told them that they would about this matter later. Sean kept a stern expression. He left them. "Oooooh," Zack
said. "I'm in deep, deep trouble, man." Jason said. They both looked back at the stripped truck on the tow truck. On
the pier, Jenna approached Leigh. Leigh was preparing a Jet Ski. Jenna asked Leigh if she was visiting the Coast Guard.
She thought that Leigh was cleaning up yesterday's mess. Leigh just told her no-just visiting some friends. Jenna
told Leigh that she just got a call from Councilman McKenna today. Something about a stolen Scarab. "It seems that Sean
was hiring a juvenal offender to work at The Training Center." Leigh paused a moment before continuing her work.
Jenna kept talking, trying to use Leigh. Leigh stood on the pier to face Jenna.
Leigh relied on a jet ski. She told Jenna that she was so sorry. Jenna asked about her being sorry about what? Leigh just
told Jenna off. She should have told her sooner. Leigh thought of her as a soulless, vindictive, miserable excuse for
a human being. And she could go to hell before she helped her destroy Sean and everything that he's built. Jenna
stared at her hard and snakelike before speaking in a smooth, threatening monotone. "Why Leigh, that was very, very intimidating.
If I were less mature, I would not only transfer you right now, but I'd demote you to Park Training Service.
But I'm smarter than that. Now, I'll get back to you once you've had time to consider your attitude...and you'd better...for
your sake and for Sean's. She offered a slight wicked smile. Have a good day, baby."
With that, Jenna walked off in a stuck up sort of way. It left Leigh standing stunned with her hands on her hips and
he mouth opened. That night at The Tropics Bar, Sean and J.D. shared a table. "There I was, doing my darnedest to
do something nice for Kekoa," J.D. said. "Next thing I know it blows up in my face. All I wanted to do was to make her
happy." Sean listened intently. "It happens to the best of us". It was J.D.'s way of fixing things. Sean told J.D. that he
couldn't fix everything. He used himself as an example. He tried to do the right thing for Danny. It turned out lousy for
all concerned. He lowered his head. Sean realized that things don't always check out as you plan. J.D. looked at Sean and
told him that he just realized that he hadn't seen him with a drink for a long time. "Not since...uhhh...wait
a second!" It was his son's birthday! Sean said that he would have been nine years old today. He laughed softly and notice
J.D.'s expression. Sean told J.D. not to look so sad. He may have failed with Danny, but Benjamin gave he some of the greatest
memories of his life. J.D. understood and smiled softly. He proposed a toast, raising his glass. "To Ben," J.D. said. Sean
raised his, "To Ben." With that, they drank from their glasses.
Well, I had to admit that all of the plots here were good. The writers did a great job here! The episode kept my interest! Even
the Zack and Jason plot added some snap. It mixed in some humor to offset the drama. The story also made Sean look more human
and that he was capable of love. Playing the protective father too blind to see how this young boy was. To see J.D. trying
his best to win over Mr. Tananka and Kekoa. And Michael Bergin's acting is getting better with each episode. Strong acting
all around to make the episode work. And I must praise the young actor who portrayed Danny. Very convincing as a bad boy.
It would have been nice, however, if Danny had been written into the script for the year and gradually let him reform. Well,
you can't have everything. It's on to the next episode and here's hoping that it is just as entertaining. My
