Hurricane Honu is headed toward the islands and everyone is on stage
one alert. Zack is trying to save his precious computer discs, but Sean warns him that all available shelter space must be
saved for food and supplies. In the mdst of the chaos, Sean gets a call from Jenna: she is stuck at Kaena Point because
of the landslide and she's in danger of being windswept over a cliff. Sean goes to rescue her. He got there to discover that
she was not in dager at all. She needed a ride on the scarab to bypass traffic to go to a city council meeting in Kaneohe.
She feels that all the panic over the hurricane is over-stated and tht the islands stand to lose money because of the hysteria.
Just then, the storm starts to hit. She tries to help Sean, but steers the boat into a reef, shearing off its propellers.
Then, while trying to make up for her mistake, she winds up getting her foot caught in the anchor line and goes hurtling over
the edge of the boat. Sean must brave the choppy waters to save her and bring her to shore. The storm is now hitting full
force and the two mist search for shelter. Sean sees an abandoned World War II era bunker at the top of the hill. He and Jenna
make their torturous way up there. The bunker's door cannot be opened, but there is an underground compartment that the two
open and enter. He places a transponder outside the door so The Coast Guard can spot them when the storm is over.
Inside, the place is a wreck-obviously used by teens as a drinking/makeout place. But, they have no choice and bundle inside.
Back at The Training Center, the stom had gotten so bad tht Zack
cannot leave. Trying not to show any fear, he buckles in for the duration. He hears a pounding outside the door. It is Ivy
Latham, a student who got caught in the storm. She has been hurt, and in a panic, cannot make her way to the back to get in,
so Zack must remove some of the wood boarding up the door. He brings her inside. It dows not take long for him to discover
that not only is she not a studen, but she' a junior reporter out to get a story at all cost so she can get a gid for an LA
station. Ivy's big ambition is to be the next Jessica Savitch. She convinces Zack, an adrenaline junkie himself, reluctantly
agrees to help her. Unfortunately, this is not her only trick. They hear on the radio of a man who has rescued his pregnant
wife off of Wahiawa. She wants to go interview him but Zack tells her they cannot possibly go out into the storm. While Zack
is talking with Jason, she pries another board loose and tries to go out into the hurricane. Zack is forces to rescue her
from certain death as she is nearly swept off the 2nd floor balcony.
At the bunker, Jenna and Sean continue carping at each other. Suddenly, there
is a loud noise as the bunker is buried in a landslide. Panic sets for Jenna. Sean tries to maintain his calm as he breaks
away a boulder that blocks their air passage. No sooner does he free the air space than water starts pouring in. He and Jenna
are forces to block the holes with pieces of clothing. Nevertheless, the water keeps coming in, albeit at a dribble. The two
share a few moments where it is clear a spark still exists between them. She confesses that one of the reasons being in the
room is so uncomfortable is because, when she was a little girl, a game of "hide and seek" ended with her trapped in the trunk
of a car for hours before someone finally came to rescue her.
Suddenly, a side door strts gushing water from all of its seams. Sean searches
frantically for a drain and finally finds it. Although he unplugs it, the vvalve controlling it is rusted shut. The water
keeps rising. Feeling that the end might be near, Jenna reverts to her more innocent self and confesses she has always loved
Sean. As the water rises toward their necks, they share a kiss. Just then, the Coast Guard, alerted by their transponder,
arrives and saves them. Jenna is happy they're save and have renewed their friendship. However, she warns Sean he had better
not say a word about her childhood experience, unless he wants to be transferred permanently to Guam.
Zack finds himself the new heoic interviewee for Ivy's story. But she makes
sure she gets her share of the spotlight. My Score: 00 Rescue Cans
