TOWER A well-equipped, elevated structure usually with a ramp. The tower aid the lifeguard
in watching broad areas of the beach and waters more comfortably during a shift.
TRAUMATIC SHOCK SYNDROME An event brought on by
trauma. For the lifeguard, the event is usually a failed rescue attempt where there is self-blame for the victim's death
or state. Help is needed to help the lifeguard move past it and to continue to help others.
