Hawaii was officially named The Aloha State upon becoming the 50th
state of the Union on August 21, 1959. Beautiful, breathtaking, paradise-like Hawaii is the only island state and the
southernmost state in the United States. Hawaii consists of the eight main Hawaiian Islands and 124 islets, reefs and shoals.
Although everyone from the state IS Hawaiian, most residents do not usually call themselves Hawaiians.
Something well noticed on the show. They reserved this term for those of their fellow citizens who have Hawaiian
ancestry. The words Native Hawaiian would serve native Hawaiians better.
