1. Shark Finning and wasting Valuable Resources
-Testified before the Committee on Resources; Subcommittee
on Fisheries Conservation, Wildlife & Oceans on October 21, 1999 with a Tesimony in Support of House Concurrent Resolution
189.
-Opposing shark finning.
Cutting off their fins and throwing the rest of the shark back into the water either alive or dead as
a waste of a valuable resource. Much environmental damage has occurred world wide.
-If
the shark population is healthty if it is deemed appropriate to catch and sell sharks, then all of that shark should be used. Shark
finning was no different than killing an elephant for its ivory tusks, a rhino for its horn or a buffalo for its hide.
