Dolphin Quest was one of those episodes that should have been expanded to display only one plot. The episode could have been good if the Cody/Kali plot had been dropped and moved onto another episode. Things moved along a bit too quickly in this 4th episode. Alex had only been in a Baywatch uniform for such a  short time (the last scene of Sharks, Lies & Video Tape/Episode 3). And now with this episode, the Baywatch lifeguards have forgotten all about what she had done recently. They have accepted and have no feelings of distrust at all. It is all as if she has never been an enemy of Baywatch.
 
It would have been more interesting and believable if Alex actually had to work hard to gain the trust and respect of the other Baywatch staff. The writers were not very logical here. Another note was the second plot, which was actually nothing more than a filler. There was no real purpose for it. It would have been different if the writers had been more imaginative and came up with the two actually falling in love and then have Cody in a scene later in the season where he flies to New York to tell Lani that it was over. The promos for the episode had lines that were misleading to them stating that they were attracted to each other. There was nothing like that in the actual episode. What a tremendous disappointment! Cody sure fell out of love awfully fast! This should have been reserved for later in the season. In the 8th season, he wanted Lani so badly, that he was aggressive in going after her. He actually told her that he didn't want her to leave Baywatch. So much for Lani! 
 
Now, back to the Timmy/Alex plot. Actually, this is a remake of Big Monday from the 2nd season. In that episode, gifted gymnast Aimee Walker portrayed a deaf girl named Lilly that Kaye Morgan (Pamela Bach) tried to help. The little girl had to try to learn to communicate with others through sign language. Aimee was truly gifted. Not only was she deaf, but was also blind in one eye. And she was an elite gymnast with hopes of making the Sydney Summer Olympic Games in the year 2000. You'd just have to wonder how she manages to perform the sets she does on all four pieces of apparatus at such a high level without the benefit of hearing and having two-sighted eyes.
 
The young actor who portrayed Timmy (Miko Hughs) was wonderful! Mitzi gave a great performance to support him and her character Alex was learning how to feel her heart as a lifeguard instead of being cold and selfish. Rebecca Manley was a bit weak in the acting department. She seemed rather stilted with her lines in a monotone sort of way. But she is young and will improve with experience.
 
A young girl was struggling to stay afloat and was crying for help. Cody and Mitch responded to the call. They made their way running down the beach and into the water. Mitch got to her first and they got the unconscious girl to safety. Cody checked her pulse and said that there was no pulse-to begin CPR. Cody gave her mouth-to-mouth and Mitch did chest compressions. Cody gave her two breaths and Mitch counted out 15 chest compressions. Mitch asked if she was alive. Cody responded with that there was still no pulse, still no breathing. Mitch told him to continue CPR. Cody continued with the two breath method an Mitch with 15 chest compressions. Mitch yelled, "Is she alive?" The girl opened her eyes as the children sang out, "yes!" Mitch told the little girl named Stephanie that she did a good job. He helped her up and Stephanie rejoined the group. Mitch asked the youngsters if they did the proper procedure for two-man CPR. "No!" The class yelled. Cody asked, "What is the proper procedure to two-man CPR?" "5 to 1!" They yelled. "What is the proper procedure for one-man CPR?" They were asked. "15 to 2!" They yelled.
 
I would have rather have seen Mitch as one of the lifeguards overseeing the class than as someone conducting it. This should have been reserved for some of the younger lifeguards that we never seem to see anymore. Mitch was the head of his staff and it seemed unlikely that he would keep conducting as many demos for classes. In the past, the younger lifeguards did conduct the classes and were able to gain experience. Mitch should have have been doing more work overseeing his staff. He should be partolling the beach more and if a lifeguard needed assistance with rescues, he could help as the backup. This was a serious element missing from the episodes now that Mitch was much more mature than in previous seasons. Another was when lifeguards used to run out to the water to rescue a victim. They used to be SHOWN running out to the water to the fan's view rather than from the victim's. This is what the show was famous for! Showing the lifeguards running to a rescue in slow motion. We don't see this any more. It's a disappointment. The show isn't the same without that famous Baywatch trot!
 
A little boy was playing with the sand and didn't seem to be paying any attention to the class. Mitch continued by asking his class to show him the proper procedure for one-man CPR. To tilt the head back. Listen and feel for breathing. Feel the Coronary Artery for the pulse. He ordered them to begin CPR with two breaths. The little boy got up and wandered toward a shiny object lying in the sand. "1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-13-14-15!" The class counted as they did chest conpressions on their practice dummies. "Two breaths," Mitch said. "Good." Alex noticed that the boy had picked up a round, orange plastic lens. He looked through it with one eye. The children counted to fifteen again. When they finished, Mitch told them to give a round of applause. He also told them thty they did a good job. he would see them all for Water Safety next week.
 
Alex walked toward them and said that she appreciated their letting Timmy hang out with them. Mitch told her that he was an interesting kid. He wondered what was going on inside of that mind of his. Cody asked Alex if Timmy knew or understood what they just did. Alex told them that it was hard to tell with an autistic child, especially when he doesn't talk. Mitch told her that it was a fact that most autistic kids didn't talk. They communicated with gestures, motion and cries. Alex added that it was as if they lived in another world. She didn't know how her sister delt with it. Mitch motioned toward the boy. He wanted to talk to him. He asked Alex and Cody if they would do him a favor and pack up the gear. Alex told him sure. Mitch waked  toward the boy and kneeled beside him. He asked timmy how he was doing. When the boy didn't seem to be paying any attention, Mitch continued by asking him if he could make his footprints disappear in the sand. He told Timmy that he could. Timmy was busy looking through the lens. Mitch got up and motioned for him to come along while Alex and Cody loaded the gear into the ruck. Alex asked Cody if he was ready for the Outrigger Race. Cody thanked her for letting him have the time off. He owed her one. Alex told Cody that he might meet Timmy and her sister there because they were going to be on the big island too. They closed the truck's wagon door as Cody said that it  would be great to see the the two there in Hawaii.
 
Mitch lead Timmy to the shoreline and told him to follow along. Mitch showed him how to do it. He placed his feet into the sand and stepped back. He told Timmy to watch. The water washed on shore and covered the sand with the footprints. Timmy stopped looking through the lens and watched with keen interest. When the water disappeared, the footprints were gone! Mitch liked the fact that he was able to get a smile out of Timmy. So he got Timmy to try it. He guided him along as he embedded his small feet into the wet sand. He backed up when Mutch told him to. Timmy waited for his footprints to be carried off the way Mitch's were, but more water came in and it frightened the boy. He screamed hysterically, causing Alex and Cody to turn in that direction. The boy tried to run out of the water, but he fell and scrambled to get up while moving toward dry land. Mitch tried to comfort Timmy to get him to stop screaming . He kept telling him that it was O.K. while holding him close. Alex and Cody ran over and then Alex proceeded to calm him down. She held Timmy and caressed his hair and arm. She told him that everything was all right.
 
Suddenly, his attention was drawn toward the dolphins swimming in the distance. He calmed down immediately. The little boy got up and walked toward the shoreline. Mitch asked what he was doing. Alex explained that Timmy was looking at the dolphins. He loved them. that was why Timmy and his mother were going to Hawaii to a place called Dolphin Quest. Mitch explained that he had been there two years ago with Hobie. That was an incredible place. When Cody asked if it was true if you can get into the water with them, Mitch told him "yes." That you could swim with them, touch and interact with them. Timmy was in for the time of his life. Timmy kept staring at the dolphins and then he looked at them through his lens.
 
Alex caught up with Mitch and Cody as the two dragged their paddleboards along the beach. They greeted each other. Cody remarked how she should have left Timmy with them today. Mitch told her that she missed dolphins that went pass them for two miles. Alex admitted that Timmy would have love that. Mitch then asked Alex when were they going to get her on a paddleboard? She told Mitch soon, very soon. They headed toward Headquarters as a woman got out of her car. Alex pointed and told the guys that it was her sister Valerie. Valerie waved and walked toward them. Timmy was still seated in the car. He watched for a few seconds before his attention was elsewhere. Alex introduced Mitch and Cody to Valerie. Alex asked Valerie what she was doing there. She thought that they would be gone to Hawaii. Valerie told Alex that she couldn't believe it, because her boss just droped a big project in her lap. There was no way that she could get away for the weekend! It looked like Hawaii was out. She looked so disappointed. Mitch looked on as he and Cody put their paddleboards away. Alex told her sister that she was sorry. Timmy would be so disappointed. Valerie felt guilty and said that Timmy had his heart set on seeing those dolphins. She had been showing him pictures of the hotel for months.
 
Mitch said, "What about Aunt Alex?" Alex was irritated at the suggestion and remarked, "What ABOUT Aunt Alex?" She had such a testy attitude that she almost did "the neck thing!" You know, moving it from side to side. Valerie told Mitch that she couldn't ask Alex to do that. Mitch told her that she didn't. He did! Alex tried to resist as she went on, "Mitch!" But they ignored her and Cody backed Mitch up. "That's a great idea! I'll be happy to help you out!" He then approached Valerie. "Where are you stayin'?" Valerie told Cody that theey had a suite at the Wailoloa and two tickets on Hawaiian Airlines. And it's all been paid for! Mitch and Cody looked at each other and finally said, "She's in!" They patted her on the back. Alex was steamed! You could tell that she was, even though she was controlling it in front of her sister. She told Mitch and Cody to stop. Alex was displaying so much selfishness! She just didn't want to do it...PERIOD! Cody said that he would help her out, and Timmy isn't that much trouble. And she would be getting a free Hawaiian trip out of it!
 
She looked at her sister and searched for an excuse to offer as to why she couldn't go. Alex told her that she didn't know if she could handle it. She didn't know if she could get the time away from work. And the place was so disorganized! Mitch stopped her right there. He looked at Valerie and excused Alex and himself. He lead her a few feet away so that he could talk to her. "I know I have no business telling you this. I'm probably way out of line..." He said. "But you're gonna do it anyway." She finished for him. "As much as we appreciate your contribution at Baywatch," Mitch said, cupping her head between his hands, "This little boy needs you a lot more than we do." She finally gave in and whispered, "O.K." The two returned to Valerie and Alex told her that she was in. Valerie couldn't believe it! She asked Alex if she was sure and Alex assured Valerie tht she was. They embraced with Valerie saying, "Thank you, Al!" Alex said, "You're welcomed!"
 
The two arrived in Hawaii and their hotel. Alex noted how beautiful it was! They stopped at the Hilton Waikoloa Village Hotel. Timmy stared at the sign. It displayed two dolphins as part of the hotel's logo. Cody asked her wasn't she glad she came? Timmy was more interested in the lobby's sculpture of a "dolphin family." The father, the mother and the baby. He walked toward it and made his way through the gorgeous flowers that served as a base for the sculpture. He kept touching the sculpture. He was so enchanted with it. They noticed how drawn Timmy was to the sculpture and wondered how he would react to the real thing. Cody asked Alex if she ever heard about dolphin therapy. he was reading about it on the plane. There was a place in Florida that treated kids with disabilities. Alex cut him off and told him not to get his hopes up. Cody told her that there was always a chance. But Alex kept her warning stern. She stated that there was no chance. There was no cure for Autism. they cam to Hawaii on vacation, not in search of a miracle. She then looked over at Timmy, who was in his own world. Timmy came to Hawaii with Autism and he was going to leave with Autism. Nothing was going to change that.
 
Later, Cody jogged along the beach as a young girl on a waverunner sped up along side him in the water close to the shoreline. She wore a yellow swimsuit displaying a lifeguard's patch. After she kept looking at him and not being to get his attention, she finally cut Cody off by stopping in front of him blocking his path. When she called his name, Cody seemed rather confused. He didn't seem to know her. She got off the waverunner and told him that he didn't remember her. "Kali Mckenzie? Lani's sister! I met you last summer when I was in LA." She told him.
 
Cody started to remember and apologized for not recognizing her. They shook hands. They both acknowledged that it was nice seeing each other again. The conversation was now about Lani. Kali hasn't spoken to Lani since she made her move to New York. She asked Cody how she  was doing. Cody guessed that she was doing good. He hadn't talked to her much either. He wasn't sure if he and Lani were cut out for a bicoastal relationship. Kali was sorry to hear that. Cody told her that they hadn't split up. It was just that they were not together. Changing the subject, Kali asked where he was staying. He told her the Waikoloa. He was there for the outrigger race. Kali informed Cody that the race had been postponed. There was a storm coming and they thought that it might affect the race. Cody remarked hat he came all the way to hawaii for nothing. Kali told him that hopefully he would find something else to make his trip interesting. they smiled at each other. Kali gave him a look, like she was that "something else."
 
It seemed strange that Cody did not remember Kali or even meeting a member of Lani's family. Another strange thing was Cody's not keeping in touch with his girlfriend, Lani. She was still officially his girlfriend. The writers took the easy way out here. They could have made Cody look good and had him do his part to keep the relationship alive before the breakup. It's still early for a breakup to happen anyway. This is only the fourth episode. The writers should have realized that there was no excuse for not keeping a relationship alive and that the bicoastal excuse is just that. An excuse! he wanted to break up and move on. There was the telephone, e-mail, the US mail and even the cell phone! And Kali's interest in Cody before the relationship was officially over was really uncalled for. Is she that deperate to het her sister's leftovers or what? And Cody was just interested in a lovely face that was there at the moment. 
 
At the trainers site, Timmy resisted Alex's efforts to coax him into getting his vest on so that he could go into the water to see the dolphins. Cody had been late joining them and Alex asked where he had been. He told her that it was a long story. The bottom line was that he was not going to race. He would explain everything to Alex later. Cody tried to get Timmy to get into his vest as well and the boy still resisted.
 
One of the trainers started and introduced herself as Jo (Joanne krames) and her co-trainer as Tammy (Tammy Goodreau). She continued with her speech as the group went into the water. Timmy wanted to watch and went to the fence with Cody and Alex. Alex tapped Cody and told him that it was no use. She didn't think that he wanted to go into the water. Cody told her that she should give him some time to get used to Hawaii. He would do it. Alex accepted that and told them that she was going to get Timmy some icecream. Cody told Alex that he and timmy would stay right there and watch the dolphins. The other children enjoyed connecting with the dolphins while Timmy watched from the fence. After the class, the trainers asked the children questions. After they answered correctly, the instructors clapped. The class was over. Timmy had been looking on through his lens. Cody had left Timmy at the fence while he ventured out toward the group. Timmy got off the fence and wandered away from the site.
 
Timmy finally came upon a man (Wyland), who was sketching. He watched the man as he worked. "Hey there!" The man greeted him. "What's your name?" Timmy did not answer, but he pointed to the dolphin sketch. "You like dolphins?" He asked. "You wanna give it a try?" He gave his charcoal pencil to Timmy to let him draw." Timmy went over one of the lines of the sketch. He gave the pencil back to the man. "Great!" He said. "A mama and her baby." It was good of this man to take the time out of his schedule for this little boy. And that he didn't appear to be bothered by him.
 
Meanwhile, Alex got back with the small dish of ice cream. She saw Cody, but there was no trace of Timmy. She called Cody. When he saw the expression on her face, he knew that something was wrong. He noticed that Timmy was not where had had left him. Cody asked Alex where Timmy was. He was there a couple of minuted ago. Cody climbed over the fence. They went looking for him, calling his name. They soon approached the artist and Timmy. "Timmy!" She cried softly. "You scared me half to death." Cody apologized and hoped that Timmy wasn't interrupting. "Not at all!" The artist said. He told them that he and Timmy share a common bond with dolphins.
 
Cody should have been watching Timmy. He has seen the little boy get up and walk away many times and should have expected him to do the same here. He DID promise to help Alex because she did not want to come on the trip in the first place. 
 
Alex was relieved. He introduced herself and Cody. The man told them that it was nice meeting them and that his name was Wyland. Alex then introduced Timmy. He was Autistic and didn't speak. Wyland told them that sometimes you don't need to speak to be understood. He then looked at the little boy and said, "Nice to meet you Timmy." He shook the boy's hand. Timmy was still looking at the sketch.
 
Later, Kali paddled in an outrigger. Cody, Alex and Timmy walked along close to the water. Alex led Timmy to a lounger and told him to sit there and she would be right back. Cody approached Kali. They greeted each other. She didn't seem too pleased with Alex standing next to Cody. He introduced them. And told Alex that Kali was Lani's ssister. Lani used work at Baywatch. Cody asked Kali what she was doing there. Kali explained that she talked to Lani last night and she thought that he's be bummed out because of the race and that Kali should take him on a tour of the Islands. She looked at Alex in sort of a jealous way. But if he had other plans. Alex spoke right up and told her "no!" She sensed Kali's feelings. She told Cody to go on. Cody asked if she was sure. Alex assured him that she thought she could manage. Besides, it might be the only chance to get in an outrigger. Cody was grateful and thanked Alex. Cody said goodbye to Timmy. Alex told them to have a good time.
 
The way Kali looked at Alex, you'd have thought that Cody was HER boyfriend instead of her sister's. She seemed a bit jealous and felt that Alex was ruining everything. It was good though that Cody left Alex with Timmy for a while. This would give the two of them a chance to bond a bit better. Earlier Alex stated that she didn't know how her sister dealt with it. She should know how to handle it as well. And about Kali...she could call Lani up and Cody couldn't? Let's face it as I brought up earlier. Cody was just handing on to Lani until he could find someone else. 
 
Kali told Alex that she would have Cody back by dinner. She removed the lei from her neck and placed it around Cody's. Cody commented that it smelled great. The two were soon on their way paddling in the ocean.
 
Later Alex was talking to her sister Valerie on he cell-phone. She told her not to wrry and that they were in one of the most peaceful settings in the world. She also told Valerie that Timmy was as happy as a clam. You know, I've always wondered about that expression since childhood. How could people ever know if clams were happy or not? Timmy was close to the water playing with his lens. He was peering at the stones, which lay on the bottom. Alex told valerie that they were having fun and that she would see her tomorrow before she hung up. Just as she ended her transmission, the lens slipped into the  water. He started to panic. He cried fantically. Alex prevented him from going into the water after it. She then tried to calm him down. After assuring the boy that she would get it back, she led him on the other side of the water. Alex made her way over the rocks and walked knee-deep toward the lens while Timmy cried, rocking back and forth. Once Alex had the lens, she sought Timmy's attention by holding it up for him to see. He cried, reaching out for it. Once Timmy had it back in his possession, Alex tried to calm him down by caressing his head. The boy began to settle down while looking through the lens the lens again, rocking back and forth.  
 
Later the two sat at an outdoor glass top table and Timmy was ptting a puzzle together with Alex looking on. Upon closer inspection, the puzzle was faced down. The boy was putting it together from the back. Wyland made his way toward them. He asked Alex how Timmy was doing. Alex told him that he was fine at the moment. And that she on the other hand was a nervous wreck. Wyland was impressed that Timmy was putting a puzzle together with no picture. Alex explained that he liked to put them together upside down. that way, it's more challenging. Yes, it is more challenging also for the fact that the pieces can only snap in place on the picture side and the back acts as the lock. He must lift the puzzle in order to lock the pieces into place. Wyland asked Timmy if he wanted to see his drawing. That it was almost finished. He held up a large drawing for them to see. It was the Mother dolphin and her baby. Alex acknowleged that it was great. Timmy stopped what he was doing and pointed toward the dolphins. Wyland told Timmy that now that he had shown him his drawing, he wanted to see his. They all lay down on their backs underneath the table to look at the beautiful scene of Hawaii's water with surrounding cliffs and rocks.      
 
The puzzle turned live for the next scene. Kali and Cody paddled their way through the water. Kali started a conversation by mentioning that Lani told her that Cody was on his way to New York when his plane crashed. After Cody acknowledged it, Kali asked him what it was like. Cody told her that it was pretty intense. She asked him if he had a problem in getting on a plane again. Cody figured what were the chances of it happening twice? A trillion to one?
 
Kali explained the hole in the rocks as being Lava Dune. They were formed thousands of years ago and Hawaiians believed that since it looks like an evil spirit, legend has it that if you take lava from the area, you would be cursed forever. They paddled toward the next set of rocks. Kali described the next set of rocks as her fire. She called it Dragon's Tongue. Cody asked her if it looked like a dragon's tongue. Kali told him no, she just liked the sound of it. They finally came to a beautiful stretch of flat top land tht Kali admitted to being her favorite spot on the Island. "Kaima Kikura" means Pathway to the gods. Afterward, she asked Cody if he was ready for the next part of the tour. They went scuba diving to view the beautiful scenery below as well as the colorful sea life.
 
Above them on a cliff, two young boys wandered close to the edge. One of the boys wasn't watching where he was going. The other boy warned him to be careful, but it was too late. His foot slipped and he was soon falling into the roughness of the waves below. Cody and Kali both saw the splash and hurried toward the area. The boy was screaming for help as he was being pulled toward the opening of the cave. Cody and Kali surfaced. The boy on the cliff waved frantically, trying to get their attention. He asked them to help his friend. Kali asked the boy where he was. He pointed toward the cave. Cody and Kali swam in that direction.
 
They were soon inside. The boy saw them and cried for help. He fought against the current to stay afloat. The boy was being carried further into the cave and then went under. Cody asked her how far the water went. Kali told him about 40 feet. They dived under to locate him. Fighting against the suction, they resurfaced. They didn't see him. They went under again. Cody told Kali to hold on while he swam toward them. He got hold of the boy and Cody told Kali that they should get out of the cave. They made their way toward the operning of the cave as they swam the boy out. The other boy was peering carefully over the cliff. Cody told him to call the lifeguards and tell them that they were bringing in a victim. They swam toward the outrigger. The boy on the cliff left to do as instructed.
 
Meanwhile, Alex and Timmy were sitting on the beach. Alex pointed toward the girl on the windsurfer. She told Timmy to look. Alex then noted that Cody and Kali were pulling in the outrigger with the victim on board. She told Timmy to stay right there and not to get up. She would be right back. Alex then made her way toward the victim scene. Timmy was still watching the windsurfer. She had hit a swimmer. The girl was knocked unconscious. The boy looked over toward Alex, who was running toward Cody and Kali. The windsurfer appeared to not have noticed that she had hit a swimmer. But in my opinion, she should have felt some type of "thump." The girl sailed on. Although afraid of the water, Timmy was deciding on whether to disobey Alex's orders to stay put or help the victim.
 
Cody, Kali and a team of lifeguards were lifting the victim, who was now on a backboard onto a truck. Alex asked Cody what happened. He explained that the boy fell offf a cliff and that he had a possible neck injury.
 
Timmy kept looking toward Alex. He then got up. His beloved lens fell in the sand. Timmy braved the water, hesitating at the shoreline and then continuing. The victim had drifted close enough toward shore so that Timmy could actually reach her while still standing. He pulled her in. Alex looked over at the blanket and realized in a panic that Timmy was not there! She ran back toward that area with Cody hustling hard after her. "Timmy!" She called.
 
Meanwhile, Timmy had gotten the girl to shor and proceeded to give her CPR. he tilted her head back and listened for breathing. He pinched her nose shut and gave her a breath. Timmy then listened and felt for breathing. There was nothing. He gave her another breath...listened and then another breath. He was giving her chest compressions by the time Alex and Cody got to him. Cody told him that he did a good job. He asked Timmy to let him look at her. Timmy got up and stepped away to view Cody and Alex as they gave the girl two-man CPR. She came to coughing.
 
Suddenly her mother came to see that her daughter had been a  victim. She held her tightly. The lifeguards arrived on the scene. Cody asked a lifeguard to take her up and check her vital signs. Alex assured him that the girls' pulse was good. The girl's mother thanked them for saving her baby.
 
Afterward, Cody and Alex looked at each other and then at Timmy. They both stood and walked toward him.
"Way to go, Timmy!" Cody said. Timmy seemed distracted again. Alex asked him, "How did you know what to do?"
"He saw us perform CPR on the beach." Cody said. "He remembered every move." Alex remarked that he was soaking wet and that he went into the water and wasn't afraid. She was still smiling in amazement. Cody told Alex that he had told her that Timmy would do it. He just wanted to pick his spot. Again Cody told Ttimmy "Way to go!" He tousled the boy's hair.
 
They soon mad therir way to ther dolphin pool. Timmy was no longer totally afraid of the water. he got to pet and feed them. He looked very, very happy. After that, they all walked along the beauty of the scenery. Cody asked Alex if she thought it was worth it. Alex said, Absolutely!" She seemed absolutely content. He then asked Timmy. He had been in the water with dolphins...he saved a little girl's life. The little boy was peering through the lens again. Cody held his hand out for Timmy as they gave each other a high five. Again, Cody tossled the boy's hair.
 
Wyland saw them and said that he heard that Timmy got into the water. Alex said that it was touch and go for a while, but they accomplished their mission. She told Wyland that Timmy swam with the dolphins. Wyland congratulated him. He had something for him to remember on his trip to the hotel. A painting of the dolphins that he was sketching earlier. Timmy looked at the painting. 
"A mommy and her baby." Wyland said.
Alex and Cody looked at the painting with fasinantion. "Wow!" Cody said. Timmy pointed to the mother dolphin. "I know he would say thank you if he could." Alex said.
Timmy looked up at Wyland as he pointed. "He did," Wyland said.
 
Kali and Cody were alone in the beauty of the sunset. Cody was told that the boy that they had rescued earlier was all right. Kali told him that he had bruised ribs and a slight concussion. Nothing major. She also told Cody that she never got a chance to thank him for helping out in the cave yesterday. They kept staring at each other. Cody asked her if she will be planning any trips to ther mainland in the near future. Kali said that she wasn't, but he knew how things ccan cahange. Cody told her that if she did visit, it would be his turn to show her around. Kali just told him that he had a deal. She really hoped that he and Lani could work things out. Cody didn't sound too sure and said that he guessed that it was possible. They both thought about how they were attracted to each other. Kali told Cody that she'd tell Lani that she'd be a fool to let him go. She wished him a safe trip back. And Cody in turn thanked her for playing guide tour.
 
Alex was showing Timmy some photos when Cody raced to joined them. They greeted each other. He startled Timmy. He told Timmy that he had a few souvenirs for him he thought he might like. Cody handed Timmy the stuffed toy dolphin and placed a cap on his head. He sat next to Alex to view the photos. "Check these out! That's us and the mommy dolphin," Alex said. She showed him the photos. "Isn't that great?"
"Yeah?" Cody said.
"You're a pretty good photographer," she added.
"Well," Cody said modestly.
Suddenly, one of the trainers approached them. "I was hoping you hadn't left yet. There's something that we think Timmy might like to see! Come on!"
"Let's go check it out," Cody said.
"Come on sweetie! Let's go!" Alex said to Timmy as she got up. They put on masks and positioned themselves underwater to view the my dolphin. She was giving birth. She swam wriggling around until the baby appeared. The three surfaced after the birth. "Wow!" Alex said. "Oh man!" Cody exclaimed. They then submerged again. They got to view the father, mother and baby as they joined in swimming together. the mother and infant swam off to bond. Alex pointed as the mother and infant swam toward them. The infant stopped for a short time before it swam off. The mother stopped as the trainer got her face to surface.
 
Timmy got to pet her and said his first word, to everyone's amazement, "Mommy." Alex looked at Cody. She then placed her arm around the boy's neck. "Mommy," Timmy said as he petted the dolphin with gentle strokes. "Yes," Alex cooed. She then kissed Timmy's shoulder. That was such a touching scene. It really tugged at the heart. It brought tears to my eyes. If only the entire story had been expanded.
 
Mitch and Valerie made their way toward the cab. Valerie was running. She had missed Timmy and couldn't wait to see him.The trio was getting out of the cab. Alex thanked the driver. She helped Timmy out of the cab. She told him to come on, that his mommy was here. Mitch had cuaght up with Cody and asked him where the trophy was. Cody told him that there was no race. Mitch thought that he meant that he got his butt kicked. Cody explained, telling him that the race got post-phoned. 
"Ah-ha, I see you got back in one piece," Valerie said. She hugged Timmy and then Alex. "Yes, and you are not gonna believe what happened!" Alex said. Valerie stooped down at eye level with Timmy. "Did you have a good time Timmy?" She asked smiling.
Mitch was confused about the race. Since it got post-phoned, what did he do with all of his time? "Fell in love with Lani's sister." Cody said.
 
Yeah, right! He saw another pretty face that was there and wasted no time in thinking about Lani's sister. Something that leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
 
Valerie continued to make a fuss of Timmy. "Oh, I missed you so much!" Cody and Mitch soon joined them. Alex and Mitch greeted each other. "What did you do to him? I've never seen him so happy." Valerie asked.
"Hey Timmy," Cody said. "Don't forget this, buddy." He held the painting out for Valerie and Timmy to see.
"Wow!" Valerie exclamed. "Where did you get such a beautiful picture?" She asked Timmy.
"A friend gave it to him, right?" Alex asked Timmy.
"You made a friend? I'm so proud of you!" Valerie said hugging him.
Alex bent over next to Timmy, "Tell her who's in the picture, Timmy," she said smiling. She couldn't wait to see her reaction when Timmy told her. Timmy pointed to the mother dolphin and said, "mommy." Valerie was stunned and hugged him warmly with tears in her eyes. He placed his arms around her and said, "Mommy." 
"Wow!" Mitch said. "It sounds like you had an incredible trip."
"It was unbelievable like you said," Alex told him as Valerie continued to hug her son warmly. Yes, sometimes the seemingly impossible does happen. It was very nice to see such a happy ending.
 
The story would have been much more powerful if they had left out the filler plot. It had no real purpose. Since they chose to include it, I could only give the episode 2 rescue cans. The story could have been more enjoyable and could have easily garnered 3 rescue cans with an expanded story. You'd have to wonder why they would show a promo wth Cody and Kali, stating how attracted they were to each other when it never happened in the actual episode. Making an actual romance would have been the making of a higher rating. But the Timmy plot kept this episode from becoming unwatchable.  My Score: 2 Rescue Cans
