footsteps using the talent to fix motor vehicles at work. Athletic and loved sports.

Residence: Honolulu, Hawaii
Marital Status: Single, but is engaged to Kekoa Tanaka, a
Hawaiian lifeguard. He broke up with blonde lifeguard Jessie Owens not long after their coming to Hawaii at Mitch's urging
to join his Lifeguard Training Center Team which was headed by the iceberg-stern Sean Monroe. He had eyes
for Kekoa.

Reason For Becoming A Lifeguard: Looking
up to Mitch, J.D. became a very impressive rookie at 18. He was extremely impressed with Mitch's celebrated background
and followed in his footsteps as a lifeguard. Mitch kept up with his J.D.'s career over a period of 10 years. He
was no stranger to the rest of the team knowing Cody Madison and Michael "Newmy" Newman from various lifeguard competitions.
J.D. returned to Baywatch after a leave of absence to interview for the
Lieutenant position vacated by newly promoted Captain Mitch Buchannon. A failed pier rescue done by procedure resulted
in the victim getting crushed, causing him to bleed internally. The victim died in J.D.'s arms. He blamed himself
for the death, suffering Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and needed time off to deal with it. Not knowing about
J.D.'s personal reason for the leave of absence, Mitch had located him and wanted him for the position.
Mitch told J.D. that he had been out of action for a while and the interviewing/demonstration's
process was just a formality and his getting the position was a "done deal." Mitch
should have been ashamed of himself! Mitch had second thoughts when he noted J.D.'s physiological problems in
relation to the pier rescue. Mitch called J.D.'s old boss to get the background check to confirm his suspicions as to
why such an excellent lifeguard would "freeze up" during a pier rescue demonstration to rookies. The job went
to another candidate, whom Chief Johnson had recommended and sent over. J.D. was disappointed, but Mitch knew that he
had picked the best candidate for the job. The new lieutenant, Taylor Walsh, knew of J.D.'s fine reputation as a lifeguard
and wanted him to remain at Baywatch, which he accepted her job offer. He needed a place to stay, so he later
moved into the apartment that was once shared by C. J., Caroline and Cody.
Hobbies/Interests: Engineering (revealed since the 10th season).
His father was a mechanic and had taught him how to fix vehicles. Mr. Fix-it is very handy with a tool box. Knows
how to make excellent home and building repairs. Outdoor sports and activities. Lifeguard competitions. Made
extra money in the past diving in Los Angeles for sea urchins and selling them.
Has great interest in learning Hawaiian culture due to his living there as well
as his engagement to a native Hawaiian. Eager to impress in this area.
Sex & Moral Standards: Sexually active, usually within the context of a relationship. More
romantic than sensual.
Personal Premise: Stand up for yourself, set goals and go after
your dreams.
Ambition: To be the best lifeguard and solid, dependable member of Sean's Team.
Frustrations
& Chief Disappointments: Messed up a wonderful relationship with former girlfriend and lifeguard Jessie when
attention started slacking off while taking in the exotic beauties of the beach.
A failed pier rescue while working at Daytona Beach that forced him to
take a leave of absence. Not getting the "done deal" Lieutenant's position that had been vacated
by Mitch Buchannon at Baywatch.
Temperament:
A motivator and organizer. Although usually very happy, he can get moody. Rarely difficult and hot tempered.
Sometimes very clueless.
Attitude Toward Life: Live and learn from your experiences as well as
your mistakes. Life is a precious, priceless gift. Learn to accept and move on. You will be stronger person
for it.
Complexes: Never really got over that failed pier rescue at Daytona Beach. Really
wonders if he will ever shake that mainland reputation of "Daytona Pier Killer." Never got over the fact that
he was the reason for the breakup between Jessie and himself. He had spoken to her about marriage before their making
the trip to Hawaii to join the team. Wonders if Kekoa's father will ever accept him for who he is.
Extrovert/Introvert: A combination of both, but a bit more extroverted. Likes people and being around
them in general and likes having friends that he can count on. He is loyal and always there for his friends.
Abilities: Excellent engineering skills; expert at home rebuilding and repairing; great underwater
diving skills; motivator; organized; skilled swimmer; great lifeguarding skills.
Qualities:
Adventurer; athletic; charming; clueless; competitive; devoted; emotional; flirt; fun loving; hot-headed; listener;
loyal; motivator; Mr. Fix-it; organized, protective; romantic, sensitive; skilled; skirt chaser; stubborn; team player; technical.
I.Q.:
Average (but after viewing his intelligence over the last two years, you would have to wonder about that).
