Jason Momoa was born in Honolulu. After his parents divorced, Jason and his mother moved to Norwalk, Iowa where he spent
his childhood and raised with strong family values. He spent two years at Colorado State University. Jason wanted to learn
about his Hawaiian heritage and transferred to the University of Hawaii. Jason was soon discovered by international designer
Takeo, launching his modeling career.
Jason won the 1999 Hawaii's Model of the Year, participated in the Governor's Fashion Show, Liberty
House fashion show and hosted the 1999 Miss Teen Hawaii USA contest. His career took off to walk the runways
for top designers as Louis Vitton and Japanese designer Takeo.
Jason supports many charities and community groups. He promotes hunger awareness by working for the Hawaii Food
Bank campaign and visits various schools to speak to students, where he shares his youthful experiences.
Jason joined Baywatch as a cast regular for two seasons after the producers moved the show to Hawaii, and
changed the name to Baywatch Hawaii.
His credits include the reunion TV movie Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding/FOX in February 2003, Tempted (2003/TV),
and Johnson Family Vacation (2004). His most current project is TV series drama North Shore/FOX, shot in
Hawaii.
